2004 NASA EXPO Parking

Well, we did it again! On Tuesday, October 19th, volunteers from our club successfully parked over a thousand cars at Port Canaveral's Terminal #4. The day started before dawn with a strategy meeting prior to 6 AM. We all took our assigned areas and promptly went to work. Kim Symon and Lynn Chartier were the first to greet the incoming venders. They assigned them their "dash parking permits." The venders were then greeted by Bob Arnold, Maynard Stutzman and Ed Chartier. These guys had the tough task of getting all of those cars unloaded and redirected back out to the vender parking area. As they left the unloading area, they were greeted by Floyd Tilley who directed them to their proper parking area. As the general public began to pour in, they were met by Dave Smart who directed them to the areas which they needed to go. Bill Symon and Gerry Doucette directed the final task of getting all these people into the general parking area. Kathy Craft had the solo task of working the VIP parking area and Disabled Parking overflow lot. She also was the person responsible for keeping the "sneaky" venders out of her lot and coordinating the bus traffic through the drop off area. Of course, overseeing all of this was our own Elaine Fitzwater, the Boeing representative that was responsible for the entire parking task. We finally ended our day around 4 PM with our traditional photo opportunity. Unfortunately, Floyd Tilley got a case of too much sun and had to leave the Expo an hour early.

Again, our club received some great reviews for a job well done. The next time you see one of our volunteers, please thank them for providing their time to the club for this event. The donation money received for our work helps our club immensely throughout the year.
