Minutes of September
18, 2008 Business Meeting
President John Novick called the meeting to order at
7:00 p.m.
at Denny’s, with 29 members
present. John led us in the Pledge of
Allegiance and introduced our newest members Melinda & Ron Butler. Visitors present were Pat Lacomb,
Peter Yanko, Col. M. Strenad
and Clairese M. Austin.
President’s Report:
- It was
noted that our August meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather from
Hurricane Fay. John contacted all
officers and members of the Board of Directors and received their approval
to pay the club’s insurance payment.
Dave Smart moved that the membership approval of the payment of the
insurance bill. Jack Messemer seconded the motion. It was approved.
- The
Daytona Dream Cruise is up to 400 cars now. Confirmations have been sent out, if you have not received yours, please contact the
organizing club.
- Sue
Fitzpatrick will again act as the club liaison with Daytona Street Rods in
regards to our monetary donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank at the
upcoming Turkey Rod Run.
- Cars,
Trains & Planes show is Sunday, November 16. Please attend to support the Valiant Air Command, the folks that run the annual
air show that is currently our main money making project. Members were reminded that they can come
and go during the day as their schedules require. It is not necessary to stay for the
entire show.
Vice President Ed Fitzpatrick distributed new parking vests
to the members who serve as parkers at various events.
Bobbie Jo Brandeberry gave the treasurer’s report. Linda Novick moved that we accept the report
and it be placed on file subject to audit.
Sue Fitzpatrick seconded the motion.
The motion passed.
Sue Fitzpatrick moved that the secretary’s minutes for July
and the President’s notes for August be accepted as posted on the club web
site. Linda Novick seconded the
motion. The motion passed.
Sunshine Lady, Kathy Craft reminded all to notify her when
sunshine is needed.
Linda Novick told all to keep her posted about any events or
information to add to the club web site.
If you have not checked out the website lately please do so. There are new articles including one written
by Lynn Pinto about her husband, Mr. AMC—Ray Pinto. Photos are always welcome.
Old business:
- Members
were reminded that the election of new officers is in November. John will
be the chairman of the nominating committee and currently there is a
tentative volunteer for each of the offices, as well as the Board of
Directors vacancy. Anyone else
wishing to run for an office is asked to call John or any member of the
Board of Directors. Nominations
will also be made from the floor.
- Dave
Smart still has a few club plaques, $20 each.
- Turkey
Rod Run time is here again. All
requesting parking with the club have been
accommodated.
New business:
- Sue
Fitzpatrick will be the chair for the club picnic. Linda Novick & Boh Bohanan have offered to
assist as committee members. The picnic will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2008
at JoAnn & Bob Shearer’s home.
Once again Bob and JoAnn have graciously offered to provide the
meat for the meal and our members will provide the remainder of the pot
luck. Sue Fitzpatrick moved that, due to the Shearer’s kind offer to
provide the meat, the club donate the $500 planned for that purpose, to
the Daytona Street Rods for the Second Harvest Food Drive, servicing
Brevard, Volusia and Seminole counties.
Carol Cornacchia seconded the motion. Discussion followed. The motion passed.
- Col.
M. Strenad and Clairese
M. Austin, representatives of the Horse Sisters, spoke and gave us more
background into their recent car show.
Discussion followed.
The meeting was adjourned at
8:00 p.m.
