The club recieved this note from the folks at the American Legion... thought I would pass it on for those interested. LN

The American Legion Riders Post 1, Titusville, FL are participating in a program known as "Operation Comfort Warriors". We are collecting blankets, socks, underclothes (m/f) and zipper front sweat shirts/hoodies and sweat pants as well as any personal items. If anyone would like to contribute to this program, please contact me at 321-243-7537. I have the tax ID number for deduction purposes if needed. We'd like to send these items out in January. If pickups are needed, that can be arranged as well.

We will also be hosting a car/truck/motorcycle show on Jan 10 and a collection barrel will be there also.

Thanks in advance,

Shari Helmer, 321-243-7537 Director, ALR Post 1 Titusville, FL

While you are doing your post-Christmas clean-up would you please save the fronts (with no writing on the backside) of the Christmas cards you have received? If you have cards from other occasions feel free to send them along, too. These card fronts will be taken to the American Legion Post #1. The Auxiliary there passes them on to veterans' hospitals, rehab centers and various other organizations engaged in arts & crafts projects in our area. The Auxiliary is one of the few groups in the country that still has this type of project. I can collect them at the Cruise In on January 3 or the Vintage Vehicles meeting on January 15 or before if our paths cross. Thanks so much for helping out with this project! Ruth

Posted by Boh! - - I just spoke to a friend in St. Louis and he said it had been 18 degrees, and then a cold front came thru!! WOW!! Seriously, he is having a problem with his Holley electric fuel pump. When it gets cold, it leaks badly at the separation gasket on the pump housing. Holley can only recommend changing the gasket, but it only happens when the temps drop. He didn't have the problem in Florida when he lived here. Duh!! Could it be the ethanol in the gas?? Maybe there is water freezing? Maybe the ethanol is eating the gaskets? He changed the gasket last year about the same time. The pump is NOT compatable with alcohol, could the 10% be the culprit?? If any of you have any suggestions or know of a solution, can you share with the members?? I just hope it isn't going to be the additives, then all of us that have a diaphram pump may be in trouble with failures and leaks. Thanks for any additional inputs/thoughts. Boh!

2 Dec. - -Anyone interested in a 1970 Monte Carlo SS with a big block with aluminum heads and a 4 speed?? There is one listed on Craigs list for $13,900 in Mt. Dora. A friend looked at it and he says it looks like the best buy he's seen lately. Only the chrome around the windshield is missing. It appears to be a real SS. My friend would buy it, but he likes MOPARS best. The seller claims his price is 50% of the NADA amount. You Chevy lovers should take alook!! Just trying to help. Boh

Sunday November 16 is the Trains Planes cars show at the Valiant air command at Tico Airport. Those people interested in Sunday breakfast can meet at 8:00 a.m. at the outer marker restaurant. After breakfast we can "caravan" over to the show a short distance away. Ed Fitz 321-266-1653

If you want to attend but not have breakfast, here are the directions to the show.

From SR 405, turn south onto the airport road. About one quarter mile later you will see the museum on the right.

From US 1 turn into the airport via Golden Knights Blvd. Turn right at the first road and one quarter mile or so later you will see the museum on your left.

When you get to the museum, come up the driveway and turn left and go around the museum building clockwise.

We will park on the flightline ramp on the west side of the museum as we did last year.

This entry route was used last year and hopefully will be used again this year. If there is a change, I will let you know.

Be square or be there

JOHN

To the group that meets for dinner on Friday nights at the "Moonlight drive in . Since there is a football game across the street from the drive in we decided to go to the Coffee Shop for this weeks dinner. Now we have a bigger problem! There is a night shuttle launch at 7:00 p.m.Friday. WE are cancelling Fridays dinner due to traffic and people unless the launch is "scrubbed". Ed Fitz 321-266-1653
