Celery City Cruisers Show
Nov. 8, 2003

What a great show!

As usual, our great hosts, the Celery City Cruisers Car Club, put on another entertaining show. Seven of our club cars made the trek to Sanford early in the morning with lots of thick fog. All went well as we arrived around 9 AM.

The show field was in great shape after a couple of years of construction. Also, the Seminole County Historical buildings, where the show was held and it's displays, were now completed.

Our club parked together with no hassles. By mid-morning the sun popped through the clouds and the heat was turned on. But, we watched in amazement as our hosts suddenly showed up to our club area and put up a shelter just for our use. What a great gesture! The new found shade was much appreciated. I'm sure we'll return the favor at next year's Indian River Show.

This show is one of the few that are still judged. So, trophy's were scarce. But, we definitely took home our share of hardware . . . Barbara & Maynard Stutzman took home a 3rd in the stock class. John & Linda Novick placed 2nd in the modified truck division. Bernard & Margaret Coveney won the 3rd place trophy in the street car class. Keeping his streak alive, our "Wall of Shame" car, Mike Symon's hippy Ford wagon was reluctantly rewarded 2nd in the odd ball class. Also attending were Bob Arnold, Dave Smart with friend Ruth, and Ed Fitzpatrick.

Our hard luck award must go to Marv & Carolynn Imes. Their little Sunbeam broke its distributor cap. As any British car owner will tell, half the fun of owning one of these little beauties, is waiting for parts. Hey, they got there and picked up their goodie bag that was filled with lots of great stuff. Also, nobody left the show without a couple of neat door prizes.

This was Mike Symon's day. After he parked the wagon, a few of us noticed a wild daisey. The flower withstood the foot traffic all day until a small child finally picked it clean.

And, yes, Bob Arnold will do anything for a picture.

Marv & Carolynn Imes finally arrived at the show, but not to late to snatch up that goodie bag.

"Yeah, that's my truck you see in the hub cap of Mike's wagon", John Novick proudly proclaims.
