Old Town Christmas Toy Drive & Cruise
Dec 10, 2005
Did we have fun or what? This year's Old Town Toy Drive and Cruise was a real blast. We started the day earlier than usual by meeting up at various points along the way. We arrived at Old Town's gate about 15 minutes prior to opening. This ensured all our V V members a parking spot together. The gates opened promptly at 1 PM. As we moved through the entryway on the red bricks, we were met by Santa's helpers where we all dropped off a toy. We found our usual parking area wide open. Jack Messemer thoughtfully remembered our club banner that was positioned behind our cars on the fence. It looked really cool displayed there. Some of us went to lunch and some waited for dinner as the day went along. At dusk we began pulling out those funny hats we've been known to wear during the Holiday cruises. Our hats seemed to draw just as much attention as our cars. At 8 PM we began the staging for the Christmas parade. Other than fighting the seasonal 'dew' that attached to our windshields, it was a great cruise. Lots of spectators lined the streets to watch the almost 300 cars drive thru the boulevard. The trip home was uneventful until Ed Fitzpatrick's truck mysteriously quit running at the I-95 on ramp. After some tinkering, Ed decided to call for a tow for the always dependable Ford. John & Linda Novick stayed back as his wingman until the rollback arrived. Thanks John & Linda!
Those attending this year's cruise was John & Linda Novick, Jack DeMarco, Jack & Esther Valerio, Tom Staggs, Ed & Sue Fitzpatrick, Bob Arnold, Dave Perry, Jack Messemer, Tom Staggs and Billy Craft.
