Old Town. . . July 24, 2004

Here it is. The peak of our rain and heat season. But, some of our diehards just can't seem to stay away from this place. Tom Staggs, Floyd Tilley, Billy Craft and Jack Messemer took on the elements on July 24th and many other previous Saturday nights. But, what made this one different is the fact that one of these guys won a coveted checkered flag with all the additional prizes and cash that goes along with it. Many of us have been attending this cruise for years. To win just one flag is great. In this case, our own Jack Messemer won his 2nd checkered flag of the year! What's the odds of that happening? But again, this night was different. After a full night of watching the sights, our contingent of V V people took off for home. Jack's luck finally ran out. His car died at almost midnight at the 417 toll booth. The guys jumped on the problem and found a bad condenser. But, according to Tom Staggs, the sight of Jack's butt  hanging out of the engine compartment was well worth the inconvenience! Way to go guys!
