Orlando Speed World, October 28, 2005

Wow! Not much else to say about this adventure. On this chilly evening, 16 hearty Vintage Vehicle cars met at the Titusville Lowe's parking lot for a memorable adventure. Thanks to Rip Dyle and All Auto Salvage, Rip was able to have our club as exclusive guests at the Orlando Speed World for a night of stock car racing. We all got in line and made good time traveling to the speedway. We went directly to the pit area where we signed our release and then we were able take all of our cars on the track. We all made several laps during the evening's opening ceremonies. What a sight from behind the wheel. Most of us were surprised at how much that steep banking really is and how hard it is to turn. After our laps were completed, Ralph Foss guided us all in to our special parking area which was right up against the track fence.  As the sprint cars ran past us, the noise was actually painful. This was so cool! Everybody enjoyed the evening. Even Tom Staggs who had an "A" arm bushing pop out of his 442. With relentless determination, Tom and his buddy's were able to make some repairs. About 11 PM, the last race was finished and we all headed back home. Again, our thanks to Rip and Ralph for arranging a great club event. Let's do it again!
