Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Day of Summer!

This was a usual summer Saturday in central Florida. There were car shows/cruise ins all over the place. While some of our folks attended the annual Corn Boil others went to the First Annual Beach Street Eatery show.

Considering the prediction of afternoon thunder showers we had a pretty good turn out. The group that met at Port St John included Billy, Kathy Craft & Damion (+ Damion's friend), Bob Shearer, Jack Valerio and John Novick. Linda met us there since she had training at Patrick that morning. The caravan to the show in Melbourne Beach was prety uneventful. The only exception was when an unknown 39 or 40 red Ford heavy duty pick-up fell in line with us; we were quite a parade.

We were joined at the show by Ray Ross a recently activated member and his 37 Chevy sedan, what a beaut. There were about 40 cars entered and there were 2 awards. Best of Show - People's Choice and Best of Show - Driver's Choice.  The show was not overly managed and the host restaurant treated us well. Each driver got $5.00 "Beach Bucks" that could be placed towards a meal. The food was good - the service was good and the show was enjoyable.

Our Ray Ross won the Best of Show - Drivers Choice and I can't think of a better omen. One show with VV and one Best of Show. Good going Ray. I will be making a phone call to the owner of the Beach Street Eatery later this week suggesting that he/she needs to choose a day when a famous annual show (Corn Boil) is not scheduled.

The trip home surely could be interesting read for all of us, too. Haven't seen rain and felt wind like that since the hurricanes of '04.

Here is a note Ray Ross sent:

Hi John,
It was great to be there today with a friendly club that gets out an goes! Even though I'm a new kid, I feel welcome. We left about 7:45 after my family finished eating, and ran into a terrific downpour just North a ways. Sure glad I got my windshield wiper fixed last week. I hope everyone made it home OK.

Ray

It was a long trek but it was worth it. Hope to see you next outing ... John

Holiday Inn Select @ UCF

THE SHOW WAS A LITTLE SPARCELY ATTENDED THIS YEAR. THE VENDOR THAT PROVIDED THE EXCELLENT BARBECUE IN PAST YEARS HAD TO BACK OUT. (SORRY DAVE).   THERE WERE STILL A LOT OF WELL DONE RODS AND CUSTOMS. SOME OF US STAYED OVERNIGHT AT THE INN AND OTHER VV MEMBERS JOINED US SAT.   TRAFFIC IN THE AREA WAS TERRIBLE AND BILL SYMON LED US HOME ON BACK ROADS. WE GOT TO SEE BEAUTIFUL EXPENSIVE HOMES AND RURAL FIELDS WITH LIVESTOCK (MOO, MOO). AND ORANGE GROVES IN BLOOM.  THE DJ WAS ABLE TO DEDICATE FLYING PURPLE EATER TO OUR MISSING GERRY.

SUBMITTED BY MIKE  &  LINDA  RHONE.

Masonic Lodge Show

1st annual Masonic Car Show

February 9, 2008

@ Fox Lake

submitted by Mike Rhone

THE MASONIC SHOW WAS FIRST SHOWING OF BILL SYMON'S GROCERY GETTER CUSTOM. IF NASA WANTS A NEW SHUTTLE THEY SHOULD ASK BILL TO BUILD IT.  IT WAS A NICE SHOW IN A GREAT PARK. LOTS OF VV MEMBERS ATTENDED. KIM SYMON WON THE DOOR PRIZE.   IT WAS A WELL RUN SHOW ESPECIALLY FOR THEIR FIRST TIME.  SEVERAL MEMBERS LEFT FOR NEW SMYRNA  AND OLD TOWN.      MIKE RHONE

That's Kim Symon with the prize with Maynard Stutzman looking on... while other VV'ers gather under the trees.

Linda Rhone and Dave Smart hitchin' a ride with Bill Symon at the wheel of the " Shopper's Express. Looks like a good time was happening all over.

Looks like Bill S. had a full time taxi service. That's Gerry Doucette and Mike Rhone taking their turn on the Fox Lake Tour.

Maynard Stutzman up front in his gator chair with Dave Smart over Maynard's shoulder talking with Kim and Bill Symon sitting across from Linda Rhone, PeeWee Doucette and Barbara Stutzman in another gator chair ... could be a dangerous chair at Fox Lake.

Thanks to the Rhones for the pictures, too.

MOPAR SHOW @

Wickham Park, Melbourne

hosted by the MOB

Chris Zieman, Ed Fitzpatrick, John Novick, Mike & Linda Rhone, Carl & Carol Cornacchia and Jack DeMarco were among those participating at this annual event in South County. Dave Smart, Ruth Miller and Boh Bohannon stopped by to look around and visit for a bit.

The show is reported to be growing ... lots of Mopar, of course, as well as an assortment of other cars and trucks of interest and vendors a plenty. The day was a good one for a show and we were well represented. Thanks to the MOB for hosting a super show.

If anyone took pictures please send them and I will post them. If names are missing of those who attended please 1contact us at brevardscoolcars@aol.com and you will be added.

Horse Sisters Car Show, September 15, 2007

Saturday Sept. 15,2007 was the Third Annual Horse Sisters Car Show. It was their first show at Sand Point Park. The club met at the Bank of America parking lot on Washington Ave. at 9:00 am. Bill Craft, Ed Fitzpatrick, Bob & Joann Shearer with two cars, and Jack Messemer entered the show together. Other club members present were Bernard & Margaret Coveney and Ron Forte. The show was well attended with about 125 or so entries. The weather was extremely hot and muggy, a typical Florida summer day.
The awards were announced approximately 3:00 pm. Bob Shearer took the award for best interior with his beautiful Oldsmobile. We then departed for home and a cool place to relax.

Titusville Cruise In, September 1, 2007

The Titusnites Cruise-in had a nice showing considering the threatening weather. One Hundred seventy seven vehicles showed up, ten from our club. We had other members present without their cars due to the weather threat. In all it was a nice night out for all in attendance, especially Jack M. who won one of the $50.00 drawings. Thanks Eddie Nenninger for not showing, as it gave everyone else a chance. The next Titusnites Cruise-in is 11-03-07, let's see if the club can have an even better showing at this show.
