Saturday, March 4, a cluster of truck owners met at Lowe's in
Titusville to travel south to the Melbourne Campus of BCC and the Strawberry
Festival. Those in the caravan were Pee Wee & Gerry Doucette, Linda & Mike
Rhone, Dave Smart & Ruth Miller. Once there we were met by the car
people--Carol & Carl Cornacchia, Carolyn & Marv Imes, Barbara & Maynard
Stutzman, and Bob Sieck. Bob was there in his capacity as a member of the
Board of Directors of the Habitat for Humanity of Brevard , the group
benefiting from this fun event. Who said Bob had retired? Word has it there
will be more new Habitat Houses starting in No. Brevard soon if anyone out
there is looking for a great way to volunteer. The weather for the event was
as perfect as you could ask for and with the press and television coverage
it got all week it was very well attended. There were lots of cars (more
than 250)--all with Indian River Festival fliers (except the folks who said
they had already registered!), lots of craft booths, and lots of good food
booths! The festival lived up to it's name with our members enjoying
strawberries in the form of strawberry pancakes, strawberry shortcakes,
strawberry smoothies, and chocolate covered strawberries! Yum! We didn't
stay late enough to see if anyone from our group won a prize from the
popular vote, but it was a great way to spend the day and get warmed up for
Titusnites!
